The Information Technology Act, 2000 (Amended in 2008) deals with legal issues which arise out of unauthorized use/theft of private data belonging to others such as;

• Tampering with the computer source document
• Hacking with computer system of other people 
• Publishing of information which is obscene in digital form
• Any unauthorized access to computers without approval
